JavaScript Job: Wordpress Support Developer

We need an experienced Wordpress Support Developer to join our team of designers, developers and project managers. If you can communicate with and without headphones, like collaboration with creative teams, and understand the value of design and branding as it applies to web and digital marketing, you will find your happy place here. If you don’t need a lot of hand holding, all the better.

We’re offering a flexible schedule, competitive compensation package and the ability to WFH. If you do happen to live in the Victoria area you would be welcome to join us as you desire in our shared office workspace, but it is not a requirement.

We’re looking for someone who is patient, flexible and prepared to pivot to handle client requests as they arrive, often under tight timelines. If you love web tech and you’re someone who thrives offering support and enjoys the challenge of the task at hand, whatever that task may be, then you’re probably the right person for the job.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• As part of a remote dev team you will work with other project team members to build and test website content and functionality.
• Collaborate with the account management team to create estimates on new work.
• Collaborate with the design team to plan and troubleshoot design and interaction patterns.
• Develop and fully test websites for cross browser and platform compatibility with an eye for both responsive and accessible implementation.
• Identify and troubleshoot website bugs.
• While we’re looking for Wordpress experience keep in mind that we’ll also be looking for someone willing to broaden their expertise into modern development practices. This doesn’t mean you need to come with React, Vue, Angular or Svelte projects under your belt but you do need to be open to the possibility that you may be asked to take on such projects as your skills allow.

KEY SKILLS TO INCLUDE:

• Wordpress and PHP experience, including: basic configuration, updates, custom theme building, up to and including FSE/Block theming
• Some understanding of Wordpress FSE and Block Theming would be a plus
• Understanding of standards compliance for Accessibility and willingness to learn more
• CSS skills (using SCSS is an asset)
• Javascript and jQuery – Vue or another reactive framework experience a plus but not a necessity
• Responsive design
• Git and GitHub/Bitbucket or other shared repository experience
• Understanding of tracking task requests through tools such as Jira or Basecamp
• Agency experience – integrated or digital would be ideal though not essential
• Experience working in a distributed / remote environment a plus but not essential
